Seth Hunt

Singer, Rhythm Guitar

Seth Hunt is the Singer and Guitarist for The Backsteps. Seth started playing music at the age of 6 when his parents got him a drum set and a copy of Green Day’s “American Idiot”. Eventually switching to guitar at age 13, Seth would play along to records by bands like Blink 182, Nirvana, Misfits, Alkaline Trio, etc.

Seth's guitar skills and vocals are a powerful combination that captivates audiences. His voice effortlessly soars over the energetic instrumentals, commanding attention with its range and emotion. Whether belting out anthemic choruses or delicately crooning intimate verses, Seth's vocals have a mesmerizing quality that draws listeners in.

Seth formed The Backsteps alongside Luke, Josh and Dev at age 19. Since then he has been proud to say he has toured with his best buddies, playing sold out shows in NYC, LA and Toronto while recording and writing as well. When not on stage, Seth enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend and puppy, being on the river, travelling, watching UFO conspiracy videos and eating at different breweries and restaurants.

Luke Garrison

Bass Guitar, Vocals

Along with being the bass player for The Backsteps, Luke Garrison is also a contributing songwriter and singer for the group. Stylistically, Luke’s bass playing ranges from melodic with a hint of improvisation to rhythmically succinct and laid back depending on what is required for a particular song. Luke takes influence from more established bass masters such as Paul McCartney (Beatles) and Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones), as well as newer artists like Kevin Parker (Tame Impala). When it comes to writing songs of his own, Luke’s ability to compose ranges from hard-hitting rock anthems to softer acoustic ballads and everything in between. Luke’s songwriting influences are too many to name, but a few would include Mac DeMarco, Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), and John Lennon (Beatles). Luke’s dynamic bass skills and wide-ranging ability to compose help contribute to the diversity and versatility that can be heard throughout The Backsteps catalog.

Josh McEvoy

Lead Guitar, Vocals

In addition to his guitar skills, Josh McEvoy is also proficient at percussion, bass, piano and ukulele, which were integral in his development as a lead guitarist. Josh is no stranger to the stage, as he began performing at a young age and his guitar style was at first modeled after the heavy-hitting riffs of bands such as Slipknot, Lamb of God and Avenged Sevenfold. Later on he broadened his musical horizons to include influences such as Hendrix, David Gilmour and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

While Josh's musical focus is very diverse, he has a strong connection to the blues as he feels as though blues is what gave birth to 'Rock'n'Roll.

Later in his musical career, Josh began studying and teaching more complex music theory such as jazz and classical. Josh's extensive knowledge of theory has enabled him to craft and assist in the delivery of three and four part harmonies for The Backsteps. Possessing the capabilities to produce intricate layers that go above the listeners expectations, Josh's contribution to The Backsteps has given the edge that transformed their sound.
